Keeping patient care in the hands of the people who know them best - their local GP
Who and where are we
Alexin Healthcare CIC is a federation of 83 GP practices based in Southern Derbyshire, East Staffordshire and South East Staffordshire covering 790,000 patients. All of our member practices remain independent organisations, whilst Alexin Healthcare offers them the opportunity to collaborate on the further development of Primary care as a federation.
What we do
To achieve our ambition of providing quality healthcare every day to our patients there are two strands to our work:
- Services for the Patient; this includes commissioned services for the NHS, Private medical Services in our practices and federation imitated programmes to develop primary care in our area.
- Services to Practices; as a federation of 83 practices we are in a unique position to develop frameworks and relationships which take advantage of economies of scale and improved ways of working.
To manage this workload Alexin Healthcare has a Board of Directors who oversee the organisations governance and development whilst day to day activities are manged by our Core Business Unit.
Why do we do it?
The idea of GP practices working together is not a new one, there is a long history in healthcare of formal and informal networks and collaboration to bring improved economies and patient care. In the current political and economic climate these networks have become all the more important as Primary Care faces unprecedented challenges in commissioner and patient expectations.
By collaborating in a formal federation, we can ensure that the services are retained locally, create new alliances across healthcare in Primary and Acute Care Systems and fulfil the role of a multi-specialty Community Provider, as laid out in the NHS Five Year Forward View.
